Statement on Senate Vote to Block Arms to Israel
April 15, 2026
For Immediate Release
This evening, an unprecedented 40 Senators voted to block an arms sale to Israel.
While the motion failed to pass, the vote demonstrated that there is now an overwhelming majority of Senate Democrats (eighty-five percent) who oppose unconditional aid to Israel, representing the full spectrum of the Democratic caucus - and reflecting the overwhelming majority of Democratic voters who feel the same way.
American politics are changing, and eventually American policies will follow. There is no amount of AIPAC funding that can turn back the clock. It is time for A New Policy.

About A New Policy
A New Policy is a nonprofit lobbying, advocacy, and political organization focused on aligning U.S. policy towards Israel and Palestine with U.S. national interest. It was founded in 2024 by Josh Paul and Tariq Habash, who resigned from the Biden Administration over the U.S. Government’s unconditional support to Israel and the IDF in the context of Gaza.
