EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

About A New Policy

A New Policy is a nonpartisan organization working to reshape U.S. Middle East policy around human rights, accountability, and long-term American interests.

We're building something that doesn't yet fully exist: a coordinated effort across policy, advocacy, and political strategy through our 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC. Our influence is growing, and our work is gaining real traction — but we're still in the thick of building the organization itself. This moment calls for someone who can bring order to a fast-moving environment, get the right people working together, and lay the groundwork for what comes next.

The Opportunity

The next Executive Director will be a builder. Not just of programs or coalitions, but of the organization itself — the structures, the team, the culture, and the habits that let serious work happen consistently. You will play a central role in developing the direction and strategy for the organization.

In this role, you will work closely with the Board and senior leadership, taking stock of what exists, figuring out what's missing, and determining the best strategic plan to put the right next steps in place. We are looking for a leader who is ready to build and to help shape A New Policy’s next stage of growth. You will play a central role in shaping not only how A New Policy operates, but what it becomes.

Core Responsibilities

    • Build on the established foundations of the organization to scale its reach, capabilities, and impact.

    • Lead a strategic planning process to support A New Policy, set clear priorities, evaluate critical tradeoffs, and author measurable goals across the C3, C4, and PAC.

    • Translate high-level strategy into quarterly and annual plans, with clear owners and timelines.

    • Ensure the different arms of the organization are aligned in practice, not just in theory, including resolving conflicts in priorities when they arise.

    • Put in place systems to track progress against goals and run regular check-ins to review performance and course-correct.

    • Identify what is not working and take action to address it, even when it requires difficult decisions.

    • In partnership with the Director of Operations, design and stand up the core operating systems the organization needs, including planning, budgeting, and internal coordination.

    • Oversee the development of internal workflows to support the team in effectively tracking and executing on their goals

    • Clarify how decisions get made, who owns what, and how information flows across the organization.

    • In partnership with Finance, Operations, and the Board, ensure strong budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.

    • Ensure coordination across the C3, C4, and PAC through regular leadership alignment meetings and shared planning processes.

    • Directly manage and support other senior leaders, including Tariq Habash and Josh Paul.

    • Conduct a clear organizational audit, including a SWOT of current team strengths and gaps, and evaluate the efficacy of current roles + job titles, defining roles, hiring, and performance management.

    • Conduct an organizational audit to evaluate team strengths, structural gaps, and role effectiveness, considering necessary changes across role design, hiring, and performance management.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Board of Directors.

    • Prepare and lead Board meetings with clear materials, decisions, and follow-up actions.

    • Ensure strong governance practices are in place and followed.

    • Hold ultimate responsibility for the oversight, management, and success of organizational development and fundraising efforts.

    • Represent the organization with donors, in external forums, including coalitions, policy spaces, and public settings.

    • Partner with leadership to strengthen and execute a fundraising plan.

    • Identify and cultivate relationships that can expand the organization’s reach and resources.
