POLITICAL ASSISTANT INTERN
A New Policy is seeking a motivated Political Assistant Intern to support our work on electoral campaigns and related political organizing efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in campaign operations, research, voter engagement, and political strategy, providing exposure to the day-to-day work of modern political campaigns. Please note that this is an unpaid internship; applicants must be eligible to receive academic credit.

The Political Assistant Intern might support a range of activities, including but not limited to:
Assisting with campaign operations and administrative tasks
Conducting political, policy, and opposition research
Supporting voter outreach efforts (phone banking, text banking, canvassing, relational organizing, etc.)
Assisting with event planning, volunteer coordination, and grassroots organizing
Helping draft internal memos, talking points, briefing materials, and basic communications
Supporting digital and data-related campaign efforts as needed
Monitoring political news, election developments, and key races
Specific responsibilities may evolve based on campaign needs and the intern’s interests and skills.

Strong interest in politics, electoral campaigns, and public affairs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Prior campaign, advocacy, or political experience is a plus but not required

Exposure to campaign strategy, field operations, and political organizing
Mentorship from experienced political professionals

Location: Remote/Hybrid in DC
Position Type: Unpaid Summer Internship
Duration: 25 hours per week for 10-12 weeks, (June–August)
